Ferrari’s return to the front of endurance racing: a hybrid prototype that followed its 2023 Le Mans victory with another win in 2024.

The 499P brought Ferrari back to the fight for outright endurance victories after half a century away from a works programme in the top prototype class. Unveiled in 2022, it began racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023 under the Le Mans Hypercar rules.

Its twin-turbo V6 drives the rear wheels while an electric motor powers the front axle when deployment is permitted. Braking recovers energy for the battery. The engine also forms part of the car’s structure, housed behind a carbon-fibre monocoque.

At the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen won in the number 50 Ferrari AF Corse entry. The number 51 finished third, putting two 499Ps on the podium. This exhibit presents the model listed by its creator as the 2024 Ferrari 499P.

Two consecutive Le Mans wins in 2023 and 2024 turned Ferrari’s prototype comeback into one of the defining stories of the new Hypercar era.

  1. 01

The V6 is a structural part of the car, unlike the subframe-mounted engine in Ferrari’s GT racers.

  2. 02

The front electric axle recovers energy under braking before deploying it under the permitted racing conditions.

  3. 03

The winning number 50 completed 311 laps at Le Mans in 2024.
